The Susquehanna County Conservation District (SCCD) would like to take the opportunity to inform you about the Agricultural Operation & BMP Survey we are asking you to complete. As always, the district is continuing to work with farmers, landowners, and the public to address their needs and wants to collect information from our local community on all the good work that has been done currently and in the past.
Several projects within the county have been completed in the past and there are current Best Management Practices (BMPs) that many people do every year that are not being captured. This survey is intended to collect old and new BMPs to highlight the great work our county is doing so that we can receive the proper nutrient and sediment reductions required for meeting the Community Clean Water Action Plan (CAP) that the Susquehanna County Conservation District is jointly working on with our coordinator, Larson Design Group, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
The goals include that improved practices and more local involvement will help water quality in our local streams, rivers, watershed, and in the Chesapeake Bay by following existing state regulations relating to erosion control, stormwater management, manure management, nutrient management, and other reduction goals under the CAP. By implementing these plans, we can help our county make tremendous strides in preserving our natural resources. We thank you for all your efforts and for taking the time to complete the survey.
Sincerely,
Susquehanna County Conservation District
