The Budick Creek Project
This project stabilized 185 linear feet of eroding streambank using PA Fish and Boat Commission approved fish habitat enhancement structures. The structures chosen in this project include modified mudsill cribbing, root wad deflector, and a log framed deflector. Another component of this project included a gravel bar removal to open up a remnant stream channel to divert some of the hydraulic energy during high water events from the main channel. In total, the project will reduce an estimated 13,867lbs of sediment, 15.8lbs of nitrogen, and 7.2lb of phosphorus from entering Burdick Creek annually. This project was completed with design assistance from Trout Unlimited and using County Wide Action Plan Implementation funding. Riparian vegetation restoration was completed with the assistance from volunteer Master Watershed Stewards who helped by planting over 70 containerized seedlings received through the Keystone Ten Million Program.
