Mountain View Wins a Close ContestThe Susquehanna County Conservation District is pleased to announce that the Mountain View team “I Can’t Remember” has won this year’s Susquehanna County Envirothon. Last year, “I Can’t Remember” finished 2nd in the contest. The winning score of 362 points will allow Envirothon Advisor Mike Talabiska to take his winning team to Susquehanna University for the State Envirothon Competition. This year’s County Envirothon was held at Camp Archbald on May 3rd and hosted 95 students from four of the County’s High Schools. Representatives from the Fish & Boat Commission, DEP, NRCS, DCNR Bureau of Forestry, and PA Game Commission help make this competition a success by working with the students throughout the school year and by giving out the exam the day of the Envirothon. Susquehanna County Conservation District sponsors the event and had a lunch and prizes for the students. District Directors gave out the awards. The 2011 County Envirothon was successful with the help of the following sponsors: Talisman Energy, Carrizo Oil and Gas, PA Trappers Association, Hepler Beef, Susquehanna County Forest Landowners, Susquehanna County Farm Bureau, Hepco Quarries, Fagan Engineers, Oakland Township, The Florence Shelly Preserve, Montrose Auto Parts, Robinson’s South Town Market, Upper Susquehanna Coalition, Bill Zick and Family, the Stuart Slocum Family, Lloyd Putt and Lillian Theophanis. Thank you all for the work you did to make the Susquehanna County Envirothon a success!
